COVID PRECAUTIONS: Please clean all resources with soap and water or wipes before and after use.
Learning Resource Centre: The LRC houses and manages millions of dollars worth of educational resources, and is the delivery and receiving hub for the Board. Resources include hands on educational kits, digital video/DVD library and textbook hub.
Digital Resources: You can stream thousands of titles via the Medianet booking system. Our digital library hosts digital libraries such as CBC Curio, Learn 360, Khan Academy, McIntyre Media, On-Core and Criterion Movies. We also have other titles from smaller distributors that are focused on Canadian content.
Educational Learning Kits: (GECDSB ONLY) The types of kits available for booking are Math kits, Science kits, Tech Centre Kits, Social Studies, Big Books, French Kits, Literature Kits and misc kits. These kits include custom Math Supplement Kits, CPS Kits, Tug Rope, Binoculars, Earth Ball and the Planetarium. All of these resources can be ordered through the Medianet booking system. If you need an account, just email your name, school and employee number. Accounts are active within one day.
Missing or Lost Resources: (GECDSB ONLY) Please email us as soon as you receive your kit if it is missing items. Missing resources will be billed back to your school. Ensure your name and school are enclosed on any returned items that were lost so we can credit your school accordingly.
Elementary Textbooks: (GECDSB) The ERC is the distribution hub for over 550 titles including student textbooks and teacher resource guides that are shared throughout the elementary panel. NOTE: If you have any extra copies of any textbook listed on the spread sheet, please forward it to the LRC so other schools can make use of it. One or two doesn't sound like much, but when you pitch in with over 50 other schools, class sets can made and back orders filled. Our system has millions of dollars worth of textbooks, so it is very important to work together to manage these resources.
PLEASE DO NOT ATTEMPT TO REPAIR TEXTBOOKS. Send them in to the Resource Centre.
Receiving Hub: The LRC receives large deliveries for the GECDSB from the Ministry of Education and various suppliers. Items are sorted and redirected to our schools via the inter-school courier.
Courier Services: Your school or site gets courier delivery twice per week. Board mail bags, learning resources, equipment, bulk mail/boxes and inter-school transfers. Basically anything that can one person can safely lift. Special courier runs can be scheduled for large pick ups. Examples based on previous requests include book drives, backpack program, surplus a/v equipment, special education furniture transfers, or a skid of boxes. Contact Dwayne Teskey for details.
