NOTE: Sorry, kits can only be booked by the GECDSB.

How do I book resources?
If you require a Medianet account, please send an email to Dwayne.Teskey@publicboard.ca with your employee number and school. Once you have an account, directions are sent. Check out the Helpful Tips page as well.

How do I extend a kit or DVD?
Here are steps to extending a resource in Medianet:

1)      Login to Medianet Account

2)      Click the ”Options Menu" tab

3)      Under “Update”, select “Extend / Renew”

4)      Under the heading “New Return”, use the drop down arrows to select new date

5)      Click “submit”

NOTE: Resources cannot be extended if they are already late. Contact Sara Weaver for assistance for extending late resources. There are also handy tutorials to help maximize your Medianet experience.

I found a lost item that belongs in a kit. How do I return it to get credit for my school?
Please pack and label any late items with your name and your school name and send it to the resource centre.

If I am still waiting for a student to return a book, do I send the kit back anyway?
Yes.

Why can't I book kits near the end of the school year?
You can, simply pick an "End Date" to over-ride the auto booking length option.

How do I return my math kit at the end of the year?
Before returning your math, tech centre kit or science start up kit, you will get a new assignment form. Please fill out the form completely and place INSIDE the kit. Forms that are taped on the outside often get lost. Read and use the inventory form noting missing items. Return all items, even if they are broken. If you find more items after you sent the kit back, pack it up and label it with your name and school for credit. When repacking the tech centre kits, please spread heavy items between the bins. Also, please return all unused consumable items.

Are there restrictions for showing a movie at school?
Yes, see the attached link for additional information.
COPYRIGHT INFORMATION FOR TEACHERS
Remember, always ensure that any program you show is appropriate for your class.

Our school wants to have a movie night. Do we need a license even though we aren't charging admission?
A Public Performance License is required regardless of whether admission is charged. Recreation Centres, Bus Companies, Libraries, Colleges and Universities, Elementary Schools, High Schools, Camps, Resorts, Hospitals and Prisons are all required to have a Public Performance License for movies that are shown for entertainment, non-curriculum, purposes.
Please note, Educational Institutions are only exempt from Public Performance rights when a title is shown for educational purposes, in a classroom setting, as part of the curriculum. Also, the title must be a legal copy, not a duplicate.

Does the GECDSB and the WECDSB currently have a license?
Yes, both Board's currently have an agreement with Criterion Pictures (GECDSB) or ACF (WECDSB). The license allows their titles to be shown for movie night, and you can even charge admission. You can only show a film from the studios that Criterion has the non-theatrical rights to (Warner Brothers, 20th Century Fox, Fox Searchlight, Sony Pictures Classics, Motion International, Astral, Canadian Famous Players, Lions Gate Films, Paramount Pictures, Paramount Advantage, Paramount Classics, Alliance Films Inc., Mongrel Media, and many more).

What are your hours at the Teacher Centre? Check out the Teacher Make & Take page.
